  The Damyang Bamboo Festival is a program that combines utility, value, and local culture about bamboo which is the most abundant resource of Damyang. It is a participatory festival in which local residents participate to promote and develop bamboo traditional culture and art. Various activities are available for tourists to enjoy and experience together with friends, lovers and family. The 2018 Damyang Bamboo Festival which celebrated its 20th anniversary, has the slogan "Bamboo forest Scent Hope for a Thousand Years,". It want to revive the meaning of the day when bamboo trees were planted and carry out the Seonbi Spirit Culture.

  Since ancient times, bamboo has been a symbol of constancy and integrity because it always grows straightly and has green and purple leap all years around. Early on, the ancestors sang the nature communed with bamboo. Also, It often became the material of poetry and painting. Bamboo is also used in various fields too. We make food by using bamboo shoots and bamboo leaves are used as material of tea or alcoholic drink.

  You can enjoy the scenery of the wide bamboo forest and various experiences at the Damyang Bamboo Festival which is held annually in August. You can challenge dances, paintings and cooking contests, and can see the eco-museum. You can also play with water guns or baskets made of bamboo or ride a bamboo raft.
