  This winter, the 5th Ganghwa Island ice fishing festival is held at the Yinsan fishing spot of Wangbang village.


  Ganghwa Island is a big island next to Seoul and the fourth largest Island in Korea. Ganghwa played a role as a military base, as a last resort when our nation was at risk. Ganghwa Island which has a long historical background, has many ruins and scenic spots. Therefore, the whole Island is called 'Roofless Museum'.


  In this festival, you can enjoy a smelt fishing by piercing a hole on an iced river and putting a fishing rod into the hole. The experience of catching fish by putting a fishing rod into an open hole is a popular activity in every winter.


  In addition to festivals, there are many attractions and events around Ganghwa Island such as the scenery, walkways and ice sled. Of course, there are also plenty of delicious foods for winter such as trout fish, trout fish, trout fries, and smelt fried fish.
